The AT&T Fuze (aka HTC Touch Pro) and Other New Devices

The HTC Touch line is one of the hottest in the Windows Mobile world, and it’s great to see the carriers coming out with their versions of the HTC Touch Pro, now including the AT&T Fuze. Again, this device has the popular TouchFlo 3D interface and a slideout keyboard. This week we’ll also mention the HTC HD and Pharos phone/GPS devices.

AT&T Fuze Released

Last week the big news was the release of the AT&T Fuze. Sprint’s Touch Pro device had come out a couple weeks earlier. I want to highlight some of the features and point you to reviews. AT&T is matching Sprint’s price of $299 with a two-year contract and after a rebate.

The device has WiFi, Bluetooth, aGPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a 2.8-inch VGA screen with 640x480 resolution.

It also has TV Out and FM Radio — but apparently it ships without the necessary software. The Fuze Mobility web site explains that you can download software to enable both features and also gives information about the cable you need for TV Out. The site also has links to pictures showing the output from TV Out.

Apparently the Fuze also comes without the YouTube Player found on the HTC Touch Pro, but a post on PocketNow explains that it’s there and that you simply need to enable it. PocketNow also has an unboxing video of the device.

And Chris Leckness of Mobility Site posted an early review along with lots of pictures. He calls the screen “absolutely stunning,” and also likes the design and speed of the device. He feels it’s a bit pricey and that the battery life could be better; nevertheless, he plans to get one. His review includes many screen shots of the software.

Interestingly PocketNow has a post alerting readers that they can get a free Fuze through Let’s Talk.

Speaking of HTC Touch Pro devices, MobileTechReview has a review of the one from Sprint.

HTC Touch HD

PocketNow has a review of the Touch HD, which has a larger screen size and higher resolution than the iPhone. Unfortunately, it’s not available in North America, so if you purchase it online and use it with a GSM carrier, such as T-Mobile or AT&T, it won’t include 3G speeds. PocketNow has posted a detailed review with many images and has one word for this device: Wow.

Also, PocketNow has a video showing how you can upload video from the HTC HD directly to your YouTube account.

Pharos New Traveler Phones

Pharos has released two new hybrid phone/GPS devices, the New Traveler 117 and 127. They include a unique hybrid navigation feature that combines navigation software and location services on a Windows Mobile device.
